Josh Adams was driving down a dark two lane county road. He had all of the lights on the van on, including the spot light on the roof. It was pointing at the power lines that were along the side of the road. "Mark." He said.
"Got it." Noah replied. They drove for a while in silence. It was riskier to do the recon at night but it was less congested and with less people out. Noah looked at the monitor in front of him. He was sitting in the back of the panel van, laptop in his lap. It was hooked to a GPS and every time Josh said 'Mark', Noah would click and put a marker on the map. The map had thirty or so marks, spaced out around a mile or two from each other.
"How many do we have?" Josh asked from the front seat.
"We've got around thirty tonight," Noah replied looking at the monitor. "We've got one hundred ninety four I think it's time to head to the north east."
"Alright," Josh said, turning off all of the exterior lights with the exception of the headlights. "Why don't you shut that down and work your way back up here?" Noah shut the laptop down and slid it into a backpack. He stood and worked his way into the passenger seat, and buckled his seat belt. Josh turned off of the road they were on and at the next road they came across, made another turn so that they were now heading back the way they had come, The easiest way to get to the north east corner of the state would the the state route that they had traveled to get to where they were now.
"Once we get to a Walmart or a rest area, we will sack out and continue the drive tomorrow." Sacking out involved rolling out sleeping mats and sleeping bags and sleeping in the van. So far their only expenses had been the gas they were using and the food they were eating. As they turned back onto the state route, a sheriff's deputy was heading toward the road that they had just been on. "Looks like someone noticed us..."
