Rachel Upton was getting ready to leave for the day. She was planning on having dinner with her finance who worked for the FBI when one of the switchboard operators called up to her office. "Ms. Upton?" the phone beeped. Rachel sighed. She was hoping to get out the door and beat some of the traffic on the beltway, be she didn't think that was going to happen now. She picked up the handset. "Yes?" She said, trying not to let her irritation show. "I've got a call for you from the Statewide Terrorism Analysis and Crime Center in Ohio, It's an Anthony Popovich, he's the director the the Ohio Emergency Management Agency." "Put him though." Rachel's irritation was suddenly gone, replaced with a sense of dread. She turned to look at the map on the wall. "This is Rachel Upton," Rachel said into the phone. "Good afternoon, Ma'am," Anthony Popovich sounded energetic, even at five in the afternoon. "I'm calling because we were notified that one of the analysts had pieced together some information on a van that had been seen in the state near our power plants and related infrastructure." "That's correct, it was forwarded to me." Rachel replied. "We had sent out a memo mainly to the states around us about it, but it apparently also got sent out as far west as Washington State." Anthony paused for breath. "Apparently their operations section chief had written a memo about how vulnerable the power grid was and it included ways to attack it. I spoke to her today and our present thinking is that someone might have a copy of the memo and may be using it as a play book to plan an attack. If they are, it will be devastating." "Do you have this person out at Washington EMA's info?" Rachel asked. "Yes, Ma'am," Anthony replied. This was something that Washington should have been made aware of as soon as it had been written. It was even worse now that someone was trying to use it as a play book. "Would you like the information?" "Yes, Please." Rachel said, her pen ready to jot the info down. "Okay, The Op Section Chief is a Michelle Oldham and her number is..." He rattled off the number. When he was done, Rachel looked at the clock. She had a fancy clock that displayed the time in Universal Coordinated Time, plus the 6 US Time Zones. It was 1 PM in Washington State. She was debating on giving the Michelle a call before she left, but decided it could wait until morning. "Okay, I was on my way out the door so I will give her a call tomorrow. My direct dial number is..." She rattled off the number and made sure that Anthony had copied it correctly. "Keep me updated if you hear anything else." "Yes, Ma'am." Anthony said. "Have a good evening." Most threats turned out to be nothing and that was the way she liked it, but something about this was different.
