Samantha rolled over and looked at her phone. It had chimed three times; indicating three separate messages. Since her classes were all on line, she didn't have to be in front of a computer until 8:30 and she was enjoying just laying there, very relaxed. She fumbled with her glasses and picked the phone up. The first text was from Michelle: 'Pull van out, stage for move, maintain shore power until van is needed. Fill main and reserve white tanks, check fluids.' Fill the main and reserve white tanks? She thought. That was over 80 gallons of water... She sat up as she read the second message; it had been sent to both her and Rebecca 'Be advised, as of 0700 this am, SEOC moved to Enhanced Monitoring from Steady State. ESF 5,15,12,13 are required for staffing. If I get word about ESF 2, Communications I will advise. Pack go bags. Could get a bit bumpy.' The third message was from Rebecca acknowledging the notification of the move from Steady State to Enhanced. Samantha dressed as quickly as she could, and then used her cane to go down to the garage so she could start the prep on the van. The good news was that there was always go bags packed in the front closet, she would just have to load them into the van. Samantha sent a message to the group 'Pulling van out, moving rapid bags from closet to van garage. Will fill water. Keep us advised." The van was always semi staged, usually just needed water and food put inside before it could be deployed, but it was almost always at the ready. She went out to the garage, and opened the door. It was very bright and sunny, something not normal for the Pacific North West. The van was still full of gas from the drive home on the camping trip. Samantha pulled the van out of the garage and parked in the sunlight. Mainly so that if they lost commercial power, the solar panels would keep the battery charged. Samantha got the hose out and started filling the white water tanks. It would take a little while before the tanks were full so she spent the time checking the fluid levels in the van. Everything looked good. Walking around to the back of the van, she opened the back door and verified that the antennas were stashed in the same place that normally were. The van was unique in the fact that it could be set up for emergency communications and be 100% self contained. Satisfied that the van was in working order, Samantha verified that the white tanks were full, the gray tank was empty and that the batteries were charged, Samantha went back in the house. The only thing that wasn't' in the van was the food, and that would only get pulled out if a full activation had been called. Since the van was ready to roll at a moment's notice, She sent a text to her moms and advised them of this and then headed back in the house to work on her school work. ||finish detailing van prep for emcomm, new chapter with meeting of EMA/EOC Director, Details from Washington DC data scrape, include targets, spin up OEMA-SEOC same way||
