John Knowlton was looking through the reports that had been forwarded to the office overnight. All of the regional power companies were sending abnormality reports to his office. One that stood out was from the Bonneville Power Administration They were reporting an anomaly that had seemingly presented itself as a tree branch falling across two lines and shorting them out, causing systems to automatically open the connections to protect the rest of the system. When line crews arrived to investigate, they found that it wasn't a tree branch but was instead a long piece of copper sheeting. They left it where it was and called the sherrif. Teh sherrif took the strip of copper into evedience and ti had been sent to the FBI Field office in Spokane wehere they were analyzign it. They noted marks like there had been a clamp holding it to somehting. There was nothing that indicated where how the strip had ended up crossing two lines John entered the data into the system that conencted the regional offices to the EOC back in Seattle with a priority note for ESF 5, 12 and 13.
