Maria Martinez hung up the phone and looked at her co-worker, Penelope ||Last name Elder||. "That was PNM, They had a power outage in Folsom, but, there was more to it than it seemed..." Penelope turned in her chair. Working the ten pm to six am shift was often boring, so anything that happened was worthy of all of their attention. "You can't just stop there..." Maria giggled. "So they responded and by the time they got there, the fire department had the fire mostly out and once it was out, the line crews went in to try to see what could have been the cause and they found that the transfomer had been shot at, not once, but a total of 5 times. One on each of the connections on the top, and three in a line down the side, which drained the cooling oil, which caught fire when one of the lines arced. They got the sherriff, the state police and I guess the FBI is on their way over there as well. Have you heard of anything happening anywhere?" Penelope turned back to the bank of four monitors in front of her. Nothing stood out, except... "Yep..." she clicked and sent an image to one of the larger monitors that ringed the office belonging to the Information and Planning Branch "DHS issued an alert via NTAS... It looks like there has been increased chatter about a possible domestic operation that may target the power grid..." She picked up the phone on her desk and called her boss and she explained the situation. She listened for a few moments. "Yes, Sir, I will do that..." She hung up the phone and looked at Maria, and licked her lips nervously. "Move us to Partial..." She said, clicking some stuff on the computer. "ESF 5, 12, 13 and 15..." Maria blinked, and then started pushing buttons. She was sure that people weren't going to like getting called at eleven pm, but that was the nature of what they did... 'You should always expect the unexpected' had become a internal rally cry. Well, this was bound to be unexpected. People would start showing up in around fifteen minutes for the earliest of them, and about forty five for the furthest away. While Maria was marshaling the troops, Penelope was placing a call to the Department of Homeland Security headquarters in Washington DC.
