Samantha saw the TV first. The reporter from CNN was standing in front of a flaming power station. "A power substation in Folsom, New Mexico was apparently attacked by a sniper rifled according to a manifesto that we received from a group that calls themselves 'The Dawn Patrol'. It reads: "This is just the first step to showing America how venerable it's electrical grid is. With a few well placed and well timed attacks, the lights will go out and you will be powerless to stop our cause from marching forward." We haven't been able to determine if this is a real threat or if it is just some kids playing a prank." The reporter said. The video cut back to the flaming substation. ""We will keeep you updated as we learn additional information and we now take you to the studio now for a look at the new cars being unvailed at the Detroit Auto Show this weekend..." "How much you want to bet mom is going to be late?" Samantha said. Rebecca smiled. Michelle had sent her a text and told her that she would be late. That was before this new development. "Probably..." It wouldn't be the first time that Michelle was late for dinner. It was common when something was going on. "She sent me a text a bit ago and said that she was going to be late, but I think she will be later now..." Rebecca's watch dinged and she looked at it. "Guess, what..." Rebecca said. "She's gonna be later?" Samantha giggled. "Yep," Rebecca said. "Dinner's done, come get some." "okay," Samantha said, muting the TV again. The TV was normally on when they where home and in the living room. Samantha and Rebecca had it on so that they could keep track of any developments in the ongoing investigation that Michelle was working on. There wasn't a whole lot of detail that had been shared with them, as the topics involved were of a sensitive nature and the whole thing was on a need to know basis. Samantha walked into the kitchen. "What's for dinner?" "Chicken Alfredo," Rebecca said. When I cooked the chicken I used broth to enhance the flavor and add some sodium to yours. Samantha smiled at Rebecca. "Thank you," the teenager said. Food prep had become a bit of a challenge as Samantha doctor had put her on a high sodium diet with the thought process being that the sodium would help to keep her blood pressure up and keep her from passing out. Sometimes it worked, other times it didn't. Samantha got her self some of the pasta and Alfredo sauce and then put her chicken on a separate plate. She would cut it up into small pieces and then put it in with the sauce and noodles. A large amount of parmeasean cheese would follow. "I would say leave some for mom, but she said she was eating in the mess hall at the EOC," Rebecca said. "I'd say eat as much as you like." Rebecca made her own plate and then carried it over to the kitchen table. The TV above the refrigerator was on, also on CNN with the audio muted and closed captioning turned on. It was controlled by the cable box on the tv in the living room, but had it's own settings for sound. They had moved on to talking about a snow storm that had struck the great plains states and buried some places in as much as 10 inches of snow. Samantha was glad that they didn't get snow like that here... It would be far harder for her to get around. The pair ate in silence, and then Samantha got up for more food. They normally tried to eat dinner earlier than this, but Michelle was planning on getting home around nine and so they had waited.
