A deputy sheriff pulled into the parking lot of the motel and stopped several doors down from the room that had been indicated on the run. The door to room 201 was now closed, but the light inside the room was off. The deputy watched as another deputy pulled in across the parking lot. They both got out of their cars and walked up the steps to the second floor of the motel. They walked up to room 201 and knocked on the door. Noah answered the door, he still had his pants on, but no shirt. The pair had ordered a pizza and thought that the knock might have been the pizza. He was shocked to see a pair of deputies standing there in that why that they did, arms resting on their gun belts. "Good evening," One of the deputies said. "We got a call about you folks talking about going back to the 1800's and the caller thinking that it sounded a little... strange." "I'm not sure---" Noah started. "We were talking about that new reality show where people have to live like they were in the 1800's." Josh said. "We saw an episode earlier and were talking about it. Neither one of us feel like we could actually live like we were in the 1800's. We like modern technology too much." To indicate his point, he swept his arm toward the room. There were two laptops in the room, two phones, and two tablets. "Given that we work in natural gas, we use the technology that we have to make judgments for our employer." "May we see your licenses and ID cards for your employer" One thing William Conrad had told everyone was to always cooperate with authorities. The other piece of advice was to act like you belonged where you where you currently were. If you looked like you belonged, it was easier to not attract attention. Both Noah and Josh pulled out their ID's and the ID cards that had been issued by their employer. The deputy looked at them and then handed them to his partner, who stepped away and ran the ID's. The deputy that remained at the door turned his walkie down. Both Josh and Noah shared a glance. Neither of them was wanted as far as they knew, so they shouldn't have anything to worry about but you never knew. "I've not caught that show, and I want to... How is it?" "I don't know how they do it.." Josh said. "To go from light bulbs to candle light, no computers... But they only have to live like that for three months and then they can come back to civilization, just a tad bit richer..." "It beats being dropped in the woods and being told to survivor like that Survivor show from a few years back..." Noah said. "I never understood that show, but it was interesting to watch." The Deputy said; the other Deputy walked back over. "They're good," he said. "Already filled out the FI's, so we can roll whenever..." The FI's were Field Interrogation cards. Used when the deputies talked to someone in the field in the course of a call for service. The data would get attached to the run and would, from that point forward would be searchable in the computer aided dispatching system that the county used.
