Michelle had just settled into her chair in the living room. She was trying to give her mind a break from the near constant stream of information flowing into it by watching a movie. Rebbecca and Samantha were in the kitchen giggling as they made popcorn. Michelle didn't know that popcorn required so much giggling, but, who was she to judge. She picked up the remote and selected the movie. They were going to watch a family favorite: The Martian. Samantha and Michelle came back into the living room with two bowls of popcorn. One for Michelle and Rebecca, and one for Samantha. As Michelle started the movie, some of the limited home automation that Rebecca had implemented kicked in and dimmed the lights, as well as closed the room darkening curtains. Right as the movie started, Michelle's cellphone rang. She glanced at Rebecca as she paused the movie. The screen showed the planet Mars. "This is Michelle." She said, holding the phone up to her ear. "Michelle," She heard the voice of Paul Bowels. "We just got an advisory via the National Terrorism Alerting System, it's, uh, happening." Michelle sat up in the chair and stood. "Read it to me," Michelle said. Paul proceeded to read the bulletin to Michelle, who was walking toward her office. She needed to grab her work laptop. "okay, Let Spokane know, and I will be in shortly, At least get the section chiefs in and the branch directors so we can start to plan a response." She walked back into the living room, Samantha and Rebecca looked at her. "Department of Homeland Security in DC just issued a bulletin via National Terrorism Alerting System... It's starting." Was all she said. Rebecca jumped up and tore though the house to get all of her stuff together. The quick response bags for the three of them were already in the van, so they only thing that needed to be loaded still was the laptops and them. Michelle had already advised everyone that if this started to kick off, Samantha and Rebecca would be in the Emergency Operations Center shortly after Michelle was. If the group The Dawn Patrol were to be successful, communications would be important. "I guess DC sent over a data packet and we have some targets on it. These are now confirmed and credible..." Michelle looked at Rebecca and Samantha. "Now let's just hope we're better than them..." "We are..." Rebecca said. "You're going in, right?" "Yeah..." Michelle replied, sighing. "I'll call you if anything changes... I love you both." "Love you too, Mom" Samantha said, giving her mother an air hug. "I love you," Rebecca said. "Be careful. We will be ready if you need us." Michelle and Rebecca kissed. "Ew." Samantha said, in typical teenage fashion. Michelle and Rebecca broke the kiss and smiled at each other. "Be careful." Rebecca said to Michelle. "I will." And with that, Michelle hefted her laptop bag up on her shoulder and walked out the door.
