Samantha was sitting at the table in the van working on some homework, She had the radios on and was just listening to some idle chatter when she heard someone on the radio ask if anyone had seen Michelle in the last twenty minutes. The door to the van opened and Michelle stepped in. The van was connected to the supply of water from the EMA so Michelle filled the electric kettle and placed it on it's base, turning it on. "Someone just asked if anyone has seen you in the last twenty minutes on EMAOPS1..." Samantha said, glancing at her mother. "Do you know who it was?" Michelle asked her daughter. "No, I didn't recognize the voice," Samantha said. Michelle was thinking, it had been easier to keep track of her before Abby had turned. Michelle's cell phone rang, she pulled it out and looked at it. Dropping a tea bag in her cup she put the phone to her ear and sat down at the table. Michelle looked at her mug on the counter which still didn't have water in it. "This is Michelle." Samantha stood, and leaning on the counter poured water into the cup and set a timer. Michelle watched this; Abby had made her tea for her when she got to the office and she got an idea. "Yeah, I'm out checking on Samantha, I can meet you in my office in about fifteen?" Michelle smiled at Samantha. "Sounds good, thank you." Michelle hung up the phone. "About two minutes left on your tea." Samantha said, glancing up from her laptop. "The person you heard looking for me is the Director... I need to go have a meeting with her, and I'm going to bring you up in that meeting..." "Oh?" Samantha said, her eyebrows raising in surprise. It would probably surprise her how many times she came up in meetings. "Yeah, I need an administrative assistant, and I'd like you to be somewhere that you are under constant supervision. I came out here to check on you because I'd not heard from you this morning." Samantha had gotten dressed in a pair of jeans and long sleeved top. "I rolled out of bed, got dressed and just started on school. I'm sorry I forgot to text you." Samantha said, glancing at Michelle. "Mom and I got up at the same time and I would have thought she told you." "She didn't" Michelle laughed. "I'm going to go in and talk to Zoe. Call if you need something. Do you have your badge?" Samantha pulled it out of the cubby hole that she had stashed it in. "What about your watch and inhaler?" Samantha rolled her eyes and pulled her inhaler out of the pocket of her jeans, and then picked the watch up from the same cubby hole that badge had been in; the watch was on the charger. "Ok. If you need me I'm down on the ops floor. You're cleared for down there, so you should be able to get in." "Ok." Samantha said. "If I need you, I'll either call or come in; I'm hungry, do they still have breakfast down in the mess?" "Yeah," Michelle pulled the tea bag out of her mug and put it in the trash can. "The first floor is locked up pretty tight so you'll need to show and swipe your badge to get down there. Take your phone with you, and if you have any problems, call me." "Ok," Samantha pulled her badge and watch out of the cubby hole. "I'll just walk over with you." She quickly put the watch on, and then stood, pulling her badge around her neck and unfolded her cane. She wanted to get a look at the operations room floor anyway. Michelle opened the door on the side of the van and stepped out, blinking in the bright morning sunshine. All of the windows in the van either had sunshades in them or were tinted. She turned and made sure that Samantha safely stepped down before shutting the door on the van. The pair ambled their way up to the front doors of the EMA, showed their badges to the troopers standing sentry, and then swiped them to gain entry to the building proper. Once inside, they presented their badges to another trooper. The troopers standing outside the front doors were to protect overall access to the building. The one inside the building was more to control access to the first floor. The building was three floors in height. When you entered, you came in to the building on the second floor. The first floor housed the Operations Center, one of the two mess halls in the building, the Office of Information and Technology and the dormitories and showers. The second floor housed the office of the Director, as well as the Operations and Logistics sections. The third floor housed the Planning, Recovery and Administrative sections. Everyone had office space on the first floor. Michelle and Samantha swiped their badges and went down the steps to the first floor. There was another trooper here who looked at their badges. The two badges were different in the fact that the background color was white on Michelle's badge, indicating that she worked in the building; where as Samantha's was red, indicating that she was to be considered as a first responder. Both of the badges shared a unique attribute: a blue border. The blue border is what told everyone in the building that the holder of said badge was cleared for the operations room on the first floor. The trooper nodded and let them swipe their badges; the door clicked and Michelle pulled it open. They entered the deserted front hallway of the first floor and turned to their left. The mess was on this side of the building. They walked into the mess and Samantha grabbed a plate, walked up to the buffet table and loaded the plate with eggs, bacon, and some toast. "You can sit at my desk in the Watch Office and eat." Michelle said, specifying which of the three desks in the building that she worked at for Samantha to eat her breakfast. Samantha followed Michelle into the operations room and then into the watch office, where she sat at Michelle's desk. The other two desks were in the administrative section on the Ops floor, as well as in her office on the other second floor. "I'm going to go in and talk to Zoe, I'll be right back."
