Samantha and Michelle walked over to Michelle's desk on the Operations Room floor. The desk was large enough for two people to sit and there were two computers and phones at the desk. Michelle looked around the room. "Hey Owen, Can you come here please?" "Coming, Ma'am" a voice said from somewhere in the room. A young man walked over and stood on the floor in front of the desk that Michelle and Samantha sat at. "Yes, Ma'am?" "I need you to set up a new employee in the computer system. She needs the same permissions that Abigail had. Come up here, it will be easier." Michelle said, turning to Samantha. "People aren't supposed to be up here unless they are explicitly invited, mainly to let us focus on the battle rhythm and overseeing the whole response and mitigation actions." Owen walked up to Michelle.
"I need a list of what all you need her," Owen tipped his head toward Samantha, "to have access to; I also need to know if she needs to be setup in WebEOC..." Michelle started scribbling on a piece of paper, laying out everything that Samantha needed access to. She would need to have her access to WebEOC updated to allow her to get to everything she would need as Michelle's assistant. "She's already got an account in WebEOC, She just needs access to all of the ESF sections, as well as the operations sections."
"I'll have to have Zoe sign off on the expanded WebEOC access," Owen said, looking at the list. "I'll get working on the rest of this now, Hopefully it's done by noon..."
"Please get it done as quickly as possible," Michelle said, watching Rebecca walk toward the platform with Mike, the head of ESF 2. Michelle waved the pair of them up. "What's up?"
"She has questions..." Micheal said, tipping his head toward Rebecca.
"Have I lost her to you?" Rebecca asked. "Also, don't forget that she has a doctors appointment tomorrow morning at nine. I can take her if you can't get away, but Doctor Young said that she wanted us both to be there if possible. Kinda hard to plan an emergency activation in advance though..."
"Crap." Michelle said, pulling up her calendar. "I can see if I can get someone to cover for a little bit in the morning. Doctor Young wants us there for some reason. But yes, you've lost her for AuxComm. She can't be on payroll and do AuxComm. Who are you going to call in?" The AuxComm team was full of people that would come to the aid of the state, if necessary.
"I was thinking about calling in Erica." Rebecca said, looking at Michelle. "She is the third in command, and I've put out feelers that we may need to staff on a three shift rotation, for an unknown number of days. I'm starting to build our battle rhythm to match yours." Michelle nodded. "Would you like me to continue to report to ESF 2, or directly to you."
Samantha's eyes darted between her mothers. Normally at home Rebecca was the one in charge of things, and Michelle did what she was told or asked to do. It was subtle, but it was there.
"Keep reporting to ESF 2, I don't want any complaints of favoritism or unprofessionalism," Michelle glanced over at the door to the hallway that had just opened and she watched as a man that she had heard talk, but had never seen walked into the room. "Oh... This is going to get interesting..."
