Chapter 4
Chapter 4
Sarah woke up Sunday morning and looked around. She still had work to do but really didn't want to get out of the bed. Her laptop was still docked in the dock on desk, but that didn't help her very much in the bed that was covered with baby pink sheets. Sarah sighed and pushed the sheets back and sat up. She brushed her hair back out of her face and stood. She felt the black yoga pants that she wore fall back to her ankles. Walked out of her room, and glanced at Cassie's door, which was still closed. Wandering downstairs, she started a pot of coffee. Wandering back to her room she opened the closet and pulled out a pair of jeans and a brown short sleeved turtleneck shirt. Sarah quickly changed and slipped her feet into a pair of brown four inch wedges. When she got back down stairs, Cassie was staring at the coffee pot, probably trying to figure out how it was brewing coffee with no one setting the timer that they never used. The only time that they brewed coffee at home was on Saturday and Sunday.
"Morning," Sarah said. There was no hiding the fact that Sarah had come down the hallway as the shoes clicked on the floor. "I started that before I went up and changed."
Cassie turned and looked at Sarah, giving her a look up and down. "You look nice, planning on relaxing today?"
"Yeah, not sure how long I will be able to sit still wearing these tight pants, but I'm not sure that I will be able to after I get the device..." Sarah said, shrugging. "I still need to work the stuff on the third gender into the proposal and make it look like it wasn't added as an after thought." She had seen several reports that where the third-genders looked like they were added in as an afterthought.
Cassie's left eyebrow rose. "Why are you not sure if you can wear the pants once you get your device. Every picture we've seen shows a very tight device, I think that the tight pants will still be around after this plan is adopted." Cassie paused, and poured two cups of coffee. "When was the last time you wore those pants? For that matter, when was the last time that you wore pants..."
Sarah smiled. "It's been a while. I'm not planning on doing it very often. I prefer skirts and down here, it's more comfortable." Sarah took the coffee that Cassie offered her.
"I can tell..." Cassie said, smiling. "I'm surprised that you even owned any skirts when we lived in Columbus. Most girls that are your age don't wear skirts...
"This is true, but I work in an environment that the President himself could randomly visit," Sarah said. "Most of these girls work in fast food restaurants, not for the Director of the Centers for Disease Control."
Cassie chuckled. "This is true. Go get your work done so that you can actually relax."
Sarah smiled and went back upstairs and sat her coffee on her desk and sat down in her chair. She felt the pants stretch and tighten around her legs. She leaned back and looked at the ceiling before logging on to the laptop. What Cassie didn't know was that she had already begun work on the other proposal, it just wasn't finished. Sarah picked up a brown headband from her desk and slipped it in her hair.
Sarah hit the button to print and then jumped up and ran to the bathroom. She had been holding it since just after she had sat down and started working on the proposal, and didn't stop because she didn't want to lose her train of thought. After she had exited the bathroom, she collected the ten or so pages off the printer and went to find Cassie.
Cassie was sitting on the couch looking at the news paper when Sarah walked up with the small stack of paper.
"What do you have?" Cassie asked, eyeing the papers.
"The revised proposal." Sarah said, handing the report to Cassie
"That was fast..." Cassie took the report and sat the news paper next to her on the couch and started to read the report.
"It was partially done. I wasn't sure how to proceed with the third gender..." Sarah said. "I was thinking about going to the mall for a little bit."
Cassie looked up from the report and smiled. "Ok, Make sure you have your phone and your access card. I'm going to circulate this, expect someone to want to meet us at the office..."
"Ok, I can do that," Sarah said. "I should be back in a few hours. I do want to cook dinner tonight if we end up eating here..."
"Ok," Cassie said, turning her attention back to the report. "I'll let you know if we need to go to the office..."
