Detective Sergeant Alex Thompson stood there looking around the burned out remains of the house. The fire department had determined that the fire was set intentionally and that at least two people had died as a result. He was looking for a motive, but he didn’t know where to start. The corners office had determined that the two victims were male and female, and property records indicated that a male and female lived in the home, as did two children. There was no sign of the children and that worried Thompson. His cell phone rang and he pulled it out, after seeing that the caller was one of the numbers belonging to the bureau he answered it. “Thompson.”

“Hey,” Detective Robert Delaney’s voice came through the speaker on the phone. “The corner’s office just called. Both the victims were shot in the head, small caliber, right between the eyes. Fire was probably set to cover it up.”

“Ok,” Thompson said. He was afraid that he’d never get the smell of smoke out of his suit. “Any word on the kids?”

“Not yet, we’re trying to figure out where they might be...” Delaney said, “We’ve put calls into the school, and are trying to find grandparents or other relatives.”

“Ok, Put out a missing on them,” Thompson said.

“We don’t know anything about them yet...” Delaney said.
