Alex’s phone vibrated across his desk. He looked at it, Delany had texted him an address on the phone number that Maxwell had texted from was registered to, as well as the current location of the phone. Alex responded to Delaney’s text and then picked up the phone on his desk. He dialed the radio room from memory.
“Metro PD, tech 10.” Came a female voice.
“Hey, it’s Thompson. Can you put me through to Popovich?” Alex asked.
“One second, Sarge.” There was a muted click as the tech transfered the call.
“Popovich,” Josh Popovich said into the phone.
“Josh, It’s Alex,” Alex said, looking at his phone. He received another text from Delaney. “Robert has a bead on the trafficker. Verizon located the phone out on the west side of town over at the Motel 6. Do we have any unmarked units in the area?”
“Uh...” Popovich said. Alex heard him shuffling around his office. “SWAT’s all home in bed, Criminal Investigative Unit is same status, Vice has two units in the area.” Alex typed out a message to Delaney. He was itching to go kick some butt. No one messed with the kids in this family.
“Have the two vice units start over there and keep an eye out...” Alex said. “Robert is itching to go over there...”
“I can imagine,” Popovich said. “He’s always watched out when there’s been kids involved.”
“Yeah...” Alex said, rubbing his eyes. “I’m going to have him head over that way. I have no clue who we’re dealing with, but I want to lay eyes on this asshat my self... Badge three three two nine for the computer.”
“We’ll put you two in service,” Popovich said.
