Lee Winston sighed again. “Shut up!” he shouted, reaching up to smack twelve year old Heather. As his hand came down, he was blocked by fifteen year old Samantha. “You’ll sit down if you know what is good for you, girl.” he snarled. Samantha had watched both of her parents get shot between the eyes. It had hardend the young girl in a hurry.
“And you’ll get what’s coming to you.” She said still standing between Lee and Heather. She was wise beyond her years, and she knew it. Lee would be a worthy advasary to her wit. “You know you should just turn yourself in and stop them from coming after you, right?”
Lee backhanded the girl, frustrated with her mouth already. She slowly turned her head back to him and smiled. “I’m going to wipe that smile off of your face, little girl.”
“And I’ll be your downfall if it’s the last thing I do.” Samantha said. Her phone was still in her pocket. She had been turning it on to make it hit the cellular network, but no one had come looking for her yet. Heather’s phone had been turned off and remained that way so that she would have a battery once her own phone died.
“I’m not going to be taken down by a little girl.” Lee spat the word girl, as if the female gender were weaker and incapable of outwitting a male. Samantha smiled again.
