70 Suffulkk County Courthouse 3 45 PM

Alex was standing before the Honorable Judge James Warren for the second time in two days. “Your Honor,” Alex said. “Thank you for seeing me again on such short notice, I would like to petition the court for arrest warrants for a William Maxwell Richards and Brynn Nicole Richards also known as Robert Carlos Turner and Suzanne Elizabeth Turner in connection with the first degree murder of William and Kathrine Miller, and the kidnapping of their daughters Samantha and Heather.”

“On what grounds?” Judge Warren asked. “Also, be seated... No sense in standing to talk to me...”

Alex sat in the chair across from the desk. “Last night after we had been involved in a shoot out with Lee Winston, we had used his phone to see who was calling him. He received several calls and texts from a person listed in his phone as Maxwell... We traced the phone to a motel out on the west side of town. This morning Detective Delaney and I sat outside of the motel watching. Eventually the Turners left the motel, and we followed for a short period of time, eventually handing surveillance off to the Criminal Investigative Unit. They are better at trailing people than Delaney and I are.” Alex took a breath. “Delaney and I went home and got some shut eye while Detective Wells processed they were in. After getting some shut eye, my self, my wife and the Miller children all went to breakfast. We just happened to end up at the same restaurant that the Turners were eating at. CIU advised us of this and on a unanimous vote, we decided to eat there anyway. While we were eating, Suzanne Turner walked up to our table and left a business card for a salon that she runs. The server said that Suzanne had given her a stack of cards to pass out to the wait staff. I collected those and informed Delaney that I thought that there was more to the salon than met the eye. He went and sat on the salon for a while, and was pretty sure it was a front for the trafficking operation.” Alex rubbed his temples. “After Suzanne had left the salon, Sienna Williams, the department’s forensics expert got a hit on the prints that Wells had pulled from the motel room this morning.”

“How did you gain access to the room?” Judge Warren asked.

“We simply asked the motel for permission to enter, explaining that we thought the people that had stayed in the room had used the room in the commission of a crime.” Alex said.

“So the motel staff allowed you entry, Ok...” The judge said. “I’m giving you your warrants, Sargent.” He pulled out a pen and signed the documents that Alex had handed him upon entering his chambers. “Out of curiosity, have you found any next of kin one that would have gardianship of for the two girls yet?” He handed the papers back to Alex.

“We were talking about that this morning...” Alex said, taking the papers that the Judge was handing him. “There is one that would have guardianship... I don’t want to see them end up lost in the system and separated; they are stronger together... I think I’m going to petition the court for custody once we conclude our investigation...”

“I see...” Judge Warren said. “I’ll put in a word for you at that time if there are any questions about you being able to handle the responsibility of children and managing your bureau...”

“Thank you, Your Honor,” Alex said.
