86 Conference Call 7 45 AM

Alex had assembled his detectives, and the Vice unit in the conference room that was attached to the bureau. Before he started the conference call with the CIU units that were in the field, he looked at the officers in the room.

“Everyone, this is Samantha Miller.” Alex said, wrapping his arm around the girls shoulders. “She’s going to go in and get her hair done. She will be wearing a wire and we will be piping the audio through CIU-2, with CIU-3 being used as voice comms for the op, Now I’m going to bring the field units in on the call.” Alex dialed a number on the polycomm and then hit a few buttons, before being given an extension that could be used for remote people to call in to the call. He pulled his portable off his hip and changed the channel.

“This is S30 to all CIU Units involved in the Turner case, if you guys could please call one eight hundred, seven three two, four six nine three and when asked for an extension, enter seven three two six nine. Again that number is one eight hundred, seven three two, four six nine three and when asked for an extension, enter seven three two six nine. Anyone need any fills?” There was no answer from the radio, but the polycomm beeped several times as units joined the call.

“Alex,” Came a voice from the polycomm, “Just so you know, it’s Debbie and I’m monitoring the call as well.”

“Copy.” Alex said, before looking at the officers in the room. “Ok, the name of this operation is Operation Parlor Trick. Around eleven hundred hours today, Samantha Miller, female Caucasian, aged fifteen, brown and brown, green dress, black tights, black boots, bracelet on her right wrist will go into the salon for a trim. We believe that this same salon is being used by a couple named Robert Carlos Turner and Suzanne Elizabeth Turner, AKA William Maxwell Richards and Brynn Nicole Richards to traffic victims of kidnapping and extortion. Based on information recovered from a laptop that had been left at the motel the pair was staying at, they are, more than likely, engaged in trafficking.

“The plan is to send Samantha in with Jenny Armbruster, and have her get her hair done. Now we don’t know what’s going to happen once they get in there. Samantha will be wearing a wire and will have a panic button. The wire will have GPS tracking, just in case. I will be in a plain car in the parking lot, CIU will be around the shopping center and SWAT will be on standby as well.” Alex said, consulting his notes. “We don’t know what’s going to happen in there, I don’t know if all of the employees have been trafficked or what... We’ve known this is going on in our city, Now we know where. Anyone have any questions?”

“What role is Jenny going to be playing in this operation?” Sargent Erickson asked,

“She is going to be a set of trained eyes on the inside to keep Samantha safe.” Alex said. “She can also pull Samantha out if things go sideways.”

“Ok,” Sargent Erickson replied. “Where do you want my people?”

“Covering the front and back doors,” Alex picked up a pointing stick and pointed it at the map of the building where the salon was. He tapped the front and back sides of the map. “Also, each end of the building. SWAT and I will be over here somewhat out of the way.”

“Are we just going to get audio or both audio and video from the inside?” Detective Wells asked.

“Well, I think Sienna might be able to hook us up with both, and to be honest, I’d prefer both anyway...” Alex replied.

“Alright.” Wells said. He was apprehensive about sending the young girl almost on her own, but he also had worked with Jennifer more than once and knew that she would take care of Samantha. “We still have those tiny cameras as well as the GPS units.”

Alex pondered this. He knew the size of the little GPS trackers, they didn’t have much transmit range, He glanced at Samantha, trying to see where they could stash one on her body. Her dress wasn’t tight, but it wasn’t loose either; it was a little shorter than Alex would have preferred his daughters wear, but it did hit fingertip length when Samantha dropped her arms to her sides. About the only thing they could do would be to try to design the tracker into a bracelet or anklet but either of those would be too big and it would look like Samantha was under house arrest or something. “I don’t know how those little GPS units are going to be of much help, they’re much too large to hide...”

“Just a thought.” Wells said. It wasn’t a bad idea, just as Alex had said, the units were too large for practical use in this case.

“Not a bad one,” Alex said. “Any other questions?” No one in the room made any movement toward asking any questions. “Ok, so we’re going to assemble where SWAT and I will be at ten fourty five hours, and we’re going to use CIU Three as our primary tactical channel. Be safe and see you all then.” Samantha sat in a chair and watched as the assembled group exited the room. “Let’s go down and see if Sienna has anything we can use to keep tabs on what’s going on inside while you’re there...” Samantha smiled and stood; Alex wrapped his arm over her shoulders and the pair walked downstairs to Forensics.
