Hannah was sitting in her ninth period class, willing the bell to ring soon. Near the end of eighth period, she had put on the last of the goodnights that her mom had delivered to the nurse that morning. The larger problem was that it was already damp and she didn't know if it would hold without leaking before she made it home. As she listened to her math teacher covering what they should be able to cover in algebra within the confines of the school year, Her math class was made up of some of the smartest kids in her grade and she was one of six girls in the advanced algebra class. They would cover more in one semester than the kids in algebra as a freshman at the high school would cover in two semesters.

"And after that, we will get into linear inequalities and finally factoring." The Teacher, Dr. Kross said. Hannah's hand shot up...

"Yes, Hannah?"

"Is factoring something like taking a number and figuring out what two numbers multiplied together make it?" She asked. Some of her classmates were glancing at her, wondering how she knew what it was.

˙

"Yes it is," Dr. Kross said, with a chuckle. "But lets wait to confuse every one else until we get there around the end of the year." Hannah nodded and looked back outside. The day had gone from clear and sunny to cloudy and looking like it was going to rain. Hannah smiled; that was all she needed to do was be soaked on the outside of her clothes and the inside. Hannah heard the bell ring and stood, hefting her now book laden backpack up on to her slender shoulders. It was a five minute walk from the school to home, and she wondered if the rain would hold off. As she walked out of the front doors of the school and got a better look at the sky, she knew that she was probably going to lose one of her battles, she just wasn't sure which one yet.

As Hannah punched the code to open the garage door into the opener, she lost both of her battles at once as the wind suddenly whipped up and a torrential downpour started and she simultaneously flooded the goodnight, causing her urine to run down her legs. Well, at least she was home...

Hannah walked in the house and dropped her backpack on the table and went up to her room to change. After she had replaced the goodnight with a dry one, she stood, staring into her closet when the power went out and there was a loud clap of thunder. Hannah shrugged and pulled out a white maxi dress that had a rainbow stitching after a few seconds of thought. Several things in the house beeped as the power came back on. Going back downstairs, Hannah unloaded her backpack to see what homework she had to work on. Looking though her planner, she only had some reading to do. Pulling the textbook she needed from the pile on the table, she heard everything in the house shut off again. Hannah stood and walked over to the front door to unlock it for Lizzy when she came home as she couldn't use the garage door opener to get into the house. Grabbing a glass of water, Hannah sat down and made a note that she had grabbed the glass of water. Hannah sat on the couch and started reading her English text book. It wasn't until the front door opened and Lizzy came in the front door, soaking wet that Hannah realized that the electric had been out for around an hour.

"The garage door won't open," Lexie whined. "I tried three times." The only thing she didn't do was stomp her foot

"That's cause the power is out..." Hannah said, turning back to her book. "Go change before you catch a cold. I've already changed, I got soaked when the rain started."

"Fine." Lexie said, dropping her black and pink backpack on the floor.

Hannah brushed some of her hair back behind her ear and kept reading her book. She could hear Lexie stomping around upstairs, and tried her best to tune her little sister out. Lizzie stomped back down stairs and looked in the fridge for something to eat as the power came back on. Hannah sighed as various things in the house beeped and turned back on. The light above her head came on and she closed her book. Hannah stood and felt the now very wet goodnight sag.they were going to have to come up with something to help hold the goodnights or what ever she would end up wearing up so that it didn't sag. Very carefully waddling around her sister, she went up to her room and swapped the soggy goodnight for a nice dry one. She then opened one of her dresser drawers and rummaged through it finding a black leotard with spaghetti straps. Taking the dress off, she put the leotard on and looked at the full length mirror that hung on the back of her door. It wouldn't hide the bulge, but it would hold the goodnight up. Looking in her closet, she found a short white lace skirt with a wide black elastic waist band. Hannah smiled, as the whole thing just blended together and looked like it was a dress. When Hannah got back downstairs, she found her mom in the kitchen. She gave Hannah a look and raised an eyebrow.

"I got soaked when it started to rain... Had to change into something dry." Hannah shrugged.

"Well, you look nice." Emily chuckled. "How did you do today?"

Hannah pursed her lips and held up her hand, all five digits. Emily's eyebrows went up again after doing a quick calculation in her head.

"When did you change last?" Emily asked, fearing she knew the answer.

"Right before I came down..." Hannah said.

"Change what?" Asked Lexie, walking into the kitchen.

"Nothing." Emily said flatly. "Is your homework done?"

"Not yet..." Lexie said, filling her glass back up with water. "I'm going to go finish it." There was annoyance in her voice.

"Ok" Emily said. "Don't let me stop you..."

"What has gotten into her lately?" Hannah asked

"Not a clue, but I'm going to need to go to the store..." Emily said. "What are we doing for dinner?"

"No clue..." Hannah replied.
