Hannah rolled over at six am when the alarm clock has started to go off and and hit the snooze button. As she did so, she sat up and felt the bed. Her nightgown was dry, as were the sheets. It was the first time in several months that she had been dry upon waking up. Her diaper, however was a different story. She could feel it sagging even though she was laying on her side. There was no denying that what she was wearing was a diaper. It was far more absorbent than the goodnights that she had been wearing. Unfortunately, there was a little bit more bulk, which had caused a slight waddle as she walked, but she could live with that so that she only had to change twice a day instead of five like the day before. Hannah stood and took off her nightgown. Looking at the tapes on the diaper, she pulled on each one, and let the diaper fall to the floor. It dropped to the floor with a squish, and Hannah reached down and picked it up, and attempted to fold it over like her mom had done with the diapers that Lexi and her had worn as children. It didn't work very well so she left it on the floor. She still had not the foggiest how she was going to change her self, but figured that she would learn eventually. She slipped her robe on and headed for the bathroom. She took a quick shower and went back to her room where she found her mom waiting for her. Laying on the bed was a khaki jumper and a baby pink tee shirt. The style of jumper had come back into fashion as soon as the back to school clothing hit the shelves and Hannah had already seen several girls wearing the exact same thing to school. The jumper had gone to her knee when she had tried it on the first time and it sort of poofed out from the waist to the hem which would hide the diaper when she was standing, but sitting could pose it's own set of problems.
"Do I have to wear that?" Hannah asked. "I'm afraid I'll flash my classmates."
"Your skirt yesterday was the same length with the same amount of poof... I think you'll be ok."
Hannah looked at her mother and then sat down on the diaper, leaving the top half of her robe wrapped around her upper body. Emily wasted no time and tightly wrapping the diaper around her daughter and securing the tapes like she used to do only a few years ago. Nothing was said, and nothing needed to be said.
"Alright, get dressed. If you can find something else, you can wear it. If not holler and I'll come help with the zipper." Emily said. Hannah nodded and picked up the bra that sat next to the jumper and put it on. She eyed the pink shirt before slipping it over her head. She then walked over to her closet and looked in it for a bottom to wear. She concentrated on the skirts and capris that hung in the closet, becoming so engrossed in the task that she didn't even process that her door was still open. She pulled a white flouncy skirt off a hanger and stepped into it, and spun around to see Lexie staining there, jaw agape. Hannah felt her cheeks warm as she blushed. Getting caught was not in the plan.
"Mom!" Lexie suddenly shouted. "Why is Hannah wearing a diaper?"
Hannah felt the tears welling up in her eyes as she slammed the door in her sisters face. It was bad enough that she had to try to keep this from her classmates, but now that her sister knew about it it was only a matter of time before someone else found out. The door opened and Hannah looked up, tears still falling as Emily dragged Lexie into Hannah's room.
"Tell her," Emily said. It was clear that she wasn't happy about her youngest daughters actions.
"Hannah," Lexie said, "I had no idea you were having problems,." She walked over and hugged her older sister. "I have been feeling left out and had no clue what you were going through or how long you've been going through it." She was crying full bore now. "I'm not going to say anything to anyone. I promise. I'm sorry I've been acting out."
"If she doesn't start acting better, I might just put her back in diapers too...You've been happier since you started wearing them again..." Emily said. There was an underlying tone that indicated that she was one hundred precent serious.
"I have?" Hannah asked, starting to brush her hair.
"Yeah, you have." Emily said. "I like the happier you."
Hannah smiled at her mother. "I have sort of accepted it, I think. Are you taking me to school?"
"Yeah. Tina should be here any minute for Lexie." Emily said. "I need to give Mrs. Remington some more diapers and to let Mrs. Johnson know that I'll be in around one to get you. The appointment is at two thirty."
"Aww, I have to be at school most of the day? Can't I just skip?" Hannah whined, jokingly.
"No." Emily said flatly before bursting out in a laugh "You would be at school regardless of the time of the appointment."
"I know." Hannah said, hefting her backpack onto her back. "It wouldn't feel right if I didn't go to school."
"Good." The tv in the living room was turned on to the news and the camera was currently on the station's meteorologist.
"The National Weather Service is saying that we may have severe storms later in the day. Stay with us all day for updates."
Hannah smiled, and then twirled. The hem of her skirt lifted, but it wasn't enough to show her diapers. "I want to be a meteorologist when I grow up..."
"I know." Emily said. "You're already on the right track. We need to go so we're not late, little miss meteorologist..."
