Emily pulled the truck into the gas station. She pulled up to a pump and shut the truck off. Hannah hopped out and ran over to where the truck known as Probe 1 sat, idling with the three mobile mesonsets behind it. John opened the door and got out, hugging his oldest daughter.

"What do you have, sweetheart?" John asked, feeling the child relax in his arms.

"Dodge City." Hannah said, taking a breath. "That's the current triple point." Eric was busy pulling up the current radar shot in Dodge City.

"Crap that's three hours away, but it's coming this way, and fast" Eric said, examining the radar. "It's moving at 50 miles an hour."

"John!" Emily shouted from across the parking lot. "Can you finish filling up the truck, I'm going to go change these two."

"Got it!" John shouted back. "Eric, work on a route to get us to it, please."

"Already on it," Eric said, glancing up to watch John and Hannah walk across the parking lot and work on finish filling up the truck.

"I want you with Eric and I," John said, as the pump clicked off. "Your mom and the girls can stay at the back, out of harms way."

"Hey, John," Eric shouted from Probe One. "You might want to see this..." John opened the door of the old truck and looked at the laptop. A new cell had formed twenty miles or so north west of where they are now, and it looked strong and was showing signs of rotation.

"Well, that was fast!" John shouted back. "Baby, grab your laptop and your bags and get them over to Probe One." John looked up at the sky. It was obvious that the atmosphere was extremely unstable. Hannah didn't say a word, just walked around and opened the door, grabbed her bag and laptop and carried them over to Probe One. The waddle was a little more pronounced now. Emily came out the store, with Olivia and Lexie in tow, both waddling as well now. "Emily, we're gonna roll. I've got Hannah. There's a cell that blew up about twenty miles north west. You guys stay at the back of the group."

"Ok, Emily said, opening the passenger side door on the truck for Lexie and Olivia. They both climbed in the back seat and put on their seat belts. "You're sure we're going to be ok?" Emily asked.

"Yeah, just stay close, but not up in the danger zone," John said, his voice not showing any emotion. "Make sure the camera is running when we get close." John opened the door on Probe one and got in, before the door was even shut Eric mashed on the gas and threw a cloud of dust behind him and peeled out of the parking lot. The rest of the vehicles followed suit, not throwing nearly as much dust Probe one had. John picked up the microphone on the dash. "One to all vehicles, the meso on this thing is going. We may be able to deploy on it" As the vehicles raced northwest, Hannah's eyes were scanning the radar feeds from the satellites orbiting high above as well as the ground mounted radar systems operated by the National Weather Service. The data from the radar site at Vance Air force base was as good as she was going to get for the ground mounted sites.

"I've got a couplet..." Hannah said, comparing her display to the one mounted between the seats up front. "It's up near Alva."

"Got it." John said, examining the monitor. Without a word he reached for the microphone. "Alva's the target, lets get up there..." Eric pushed the gas and the truck accelerated.

In the last truck, the sat phone started ringing. Emily glanced at it, not recognizing the number, before answering it.

"This is Emily," she said, reaching to turn down the radio in case any traffic coming across.

"Emily!" Tina's voice sounded frantic but relieved at the same time. "Where's Olivia? Is she with you?"

"She's with me and safe," Emily said. "Hang on, I'm going to give the phone to her." Emily reached behind her and handed the phone to Olivia.

"Mommy!" Olivia sounded genuinely happy. "Yeah, I'm ok, and safe."

Emily reached for the mic. "Probe two to probe one."

"One, go" came Hannah's voice.

"Hannah, let your dad know that Tina is safe," Emily said. "Also ask him if she has a safe place is it ok for me to break off and drop your sister and Olivia there?"

"He said ok to the first and yes to the second," Hannah relayed. "Also, if you don't want to come back out, you don't have to."

"Copy" Emily said, hanging the mic back in the holder.

"Here, mom wants to talk to you." Olivia said, holding the phone out so that Emily could take it back.

"Yeah," Emily said, holding the phone to her ear.

"The only place I can think of that would be safer than with you is with my mom and dad in Denver..." Tina said, letting the though trail off. "If you have Olivia with you, that means that you have Lexie and Hannah with you and you're not going to put their lives in danger. Keep the girls safe, I need to get back to work."

"I will. If you need anything call me back on this number." Emily said, and then the line went dead. Up ahead, the sky was roiling, and the atmosphere was very unstable.

"Eric, pull off." John said taking a quick glance around. Hannah reached for the microphone.

"Alright." Eric said.

"Probe to all vehicles, we're pulling off," Hannah said into the microphone. Once stopped they all got out and stood there, looking at the sky, every set of eyes looking for the rotation that the radar showed.
