Hannah rolled over at seven am as the alarm started going off. As she reached over to hit the snooze button, she realized that the bed was dry. Not only that, the goodnight that she was wearing was also dry. Hannah smiled as she flipped the sheet back and stood, stretching. She wandered over to the closet and tried to decide what to wear. After staring at her closet for about five minutes, she decided to go take a shower and then deal with finding something to wear. After she had removed her night gown and the goodnight, she sat the goodnight on the bed, planning on wearing it that night since it was still dry. She slipped into her robe and opened the door, heading for the bathroom. As she went to enter the bathroom her mother came out of her room. Hannah smiled at her mom.
"And?" Emily said, slightly caught off guard by her oldest daughter being awake at seven in the morning on the Sunday before school started.
"Dry." Hannah said, with a smile.
"Dry because of the goodnight or everything was dry?" Emily asked.
"Everything, including the goodnight was dry." Hannah said with a smile.
"Awesome. Make a note of it in the book. This might be useful for Doctor Jones to know about." Emily said. Hannah nodded.
"I was already thinking that, but first I'm going to take a shower." Hannah said, smiling at her mom and then going into the bathroom. After her shower, she went back to her room and looked at the goodnight still sitting on the bed. She picked up the notebook and opened it to the first page. She still was on the first page, so that was a good thing. Looking at the last entry, she sighed, and then smiled. She wrote the date and time and then the words 'woke up dry... :)'. She picked up the goodnight and slipped her legs back into it, pulling it to her slender waist. Glancing at the closet, which was still standing open, she saw a pale blue sleeveless dress. She loved wearing it, and it was cool enough to wear on the hot August day that was the day before school started. When she stood, the slightly flared skirt would stop slightly above her knees, and the bodice had a light blue lace overlay in addition to being fitted. She found her white sandals and slipped them on her feet and then looked at her self in the mirror. The bodice of the dress hung loosely but that would be fixed when she found her mother to button the dress. Her hair still hung limply from her head and that was when she thought about pigtails again. She quickly put her hair in low pigtails and then went to go find her mother so that she could have her button the row of small white flower shaped buttons on the back of the dress. She found her mom in the kitchen cooking breakfast and noticed that her nose and ears were assaulted by the smells of bacon cooking, and the sounds of eggs frying. Emily smiled at her daughter.
"Need to be buttoned up?" Emily asked pulling some bacon out of the pan and putting it on a plate. She did the same to some eggs and then sat the spatula down.
"Yep," Hannah replied. She felt the bodice of the dress tighten slightly as her mom buttoned her in. If Emily saw the goodnight, she didn't say anything.
"There ya go." Emily said, turning back to her cooking. She had seen the goodnight, but didn't say anything as a result of the accident last night. "Can you go try to wake up your sister and Olivia for me?"
"Yep," Hannah said, turning around, causing the skirt on the dress to flare out and give a brief glimpse of the goodnight that she wore under her dress.
"You need to be careful if you're going to wear that under your dress..." Emily said, cracking an egg and letting it drop into the pan.
Hannah felt her cheeks start to warm up and knew that she was blushing. She went up stairs, and knocked on her sisters door. "Lexie, Mom made breakfast if you and Olivia want to get up and come down and eat some..."
"Ok..." Hannah heard Lexie's voice from the other side of the door. "We'll be down in a few." Hannah shrugged and went back down stairs, she loved the siwishiness of this skirt, and the way the tulle hem felt tickling her legs as she descended the stairs.
"I told them," Hannah said. "Whether or not they get up and come down, who knows..."
Emily chuckled. "It would be like your sister and Olivia to sleep through breakfast" She flipped some more eggs on to the plate. "Get some and eat before it gets cold..."
Hannah did so and after she had sat down at the table, realized that she had neglected to get her self something to drink. "Mom, can you get me some orange juice?"
"Yep." Emily said, grabbing a glass and pouring some orange juice into it. Emily didn't see Lexie or Olivia enter the kitchen. Neither girl was talkative first thing in the morning. "Han, that's going to be eight ounces for the book." Emily said.
Hannah's eyes grew wide and then darted between Lexie and Olivia. Emily turned around and realized that both Lexie and Olivia had heard her statement about the book.
"What book?" Lexie asked, sitting at the table. Olivia sat next to her.
"Doctor Jones wants her to keep track of what she's drinking, how much and when," Emily said, hoping that would answer the younger girl's questions.
"Oh," Lexie said, apparently satisfied with the answer her mother gave. The rest of the meal was eaten in silence. Hannah was deep in thought, wondering if the goodnight that she wore would be wet before bedtime...
