Hannah walked into school hearing every crinkle the goodnight made. She was also sure that she was waddling. Knowing that classes wouldn't start for forty more minutes set her mind at ease because it reduced the likelihood of running into someone that could learn her secret. The air inside the school felt good on her legs as the air outside was cooler than the air in the school. Hannah walked a few steps behind her mom as if to say to anyone that she knew that she didn't know why her mom was in the school. As Hannah followed her mom into the nurses office, she was surprised to see the nurse there already.

"Good Morning," Emily said as she walked through the door.

"Morning, Dr. Peterson, What brings you in this morning?" The school nurse, Mrs. Remington asked. It was obvious that she was surprised to see both Katie and Hannah first thing in the morning...

"Well," Katie said, glancing at Hannah, who shrugged and then started to blush. It was obvious that what ever the issue was, it was embarrassing for Hannah. "Hannah has started to have accidents during the day as well as at night. She has an appointment with her doctor tomorrow but I brought some dry pull ups just in case." Mrs. Remington watched as Hannah fidgeted, twisting her foot on the ground and looking like something was really interesting. "I don't anticipate her needing them, but hopefully we get some kind of an answer tomorrow." Katie pulled the purple goodnights out of Hannah's backpack and handed them to Mrs. Remington.

"Hannah, I'm going to give you a note so that if you need to come see me you can just do it." Mrs. Remington said, putting the goodnights in a cabinet.

"Ok," Hannah replied, her voice shaky. Mrs. Remington looked at Hannah and smiled.

"Don't worry, sweetie," she said. "Your secret is safe with me, and if anyone finds out about it, tell me and I'll set them straight." Mrs. Remington watched as Hannah smiled.

"Thank you," Emily said, before turning to her daughter. "Call me if you need anything. I'm going to go to work, but I need to do some research on some stuff because I have a feeling I know where this is going to end up going..."

"Ok," Hannah said. "I need to wander around with my schedule and find my classes so I don't look like a total idiot..." she chuckled.

"Just remember, come down here if you need to." Mrs. Remington said. "If you have to go to the bathroom, I would rather you just get up and go and the teacher can deal with me."

"Thank you," Hannah said. "I appreciate it."

Hannah was sitting in her third period class when she suddenly realized that she was wet. She raised her hand to try to get the teachers attention.

"Yes, Hannah?" Mr. Johnson said. He had just taken attendance.

"May I go to the bathroom please?" Hannah said.

"No, you should have gone before class started." He replied.

Hannah stood and left the room, taking her bag with her to the nurses office. By the time that she got to the nurses office, she had tears starting to well her her eyes. This was not how she ever imagined that her first day of middle school would be like this. Hannah reached up to try to hide the tears. Mrs. Remington saw Hannah as she entered the office.

"Where were you and what happened?" Mrs. Remington asked.

"Mr. Johnson's room..." Hannah said, another tear falling out her right eye. "I realized that I was wet and asked him if I could go to the bathroom and he said no. I was going to come down and see you because I needed a change..."

"I'll deal with him." Mrs. Remington said, opening the cabinet and handing Hannah a dry goodnight. "I take it you simply left his classroom?"

Hannah giggled. "Yep, I wasn't going to sit there in a wet goodnight any longer than I had to."

"I'll give you a pass back to class after you get cleaned up."

"Ok." Hannah disappeared into the bathroom that was attached to the nurses office. Four minutes later she came out of the bathroom, obviously more comfortable than she had been when she entered the room. There was a smile on her face and a spring in her step again.

"There's three minutes till we get into fourth period. Why don't you sit tight and then just go to your class." Mrs. Remington said. "I'm going to give you a note to take up to Mr. Johnson before you leave."

"Ok." Hannah said, sitting her backpack on the floor next to a chair that sat next to Mrs. Remington's desk.
